If You Want a Clear Skin, You Might Need to Change Your Diet.

Is it true that your skin can be affected by what you eat? The answer may be surprising. Eating certain foods high in fat and sugar can cause inflammation, which can in turn lead to skin problems like acne and eczema. Foods rich in antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins A and C can help your skin stay clear and healthy. It might be time to reevaluate your diet! Read on to learn more about the link between diet and acne or read the original article here .

Eating Well Is Not a Luxury

It is important to have good nutrition if you want your skin to look its best! Most people are aware that too much sugar, caffeine and alcohol can lead to unhealthy skin - but many people aren't aware of the impact other things have on their complexion as well. For example, research has shown that a deficiency in vitamin C can lead to dermatitis herpetiformis and increased sensitivity to UV rays causes photoaging of skin. The good news is that most of these problems are easily treated by changing your diet! Vitamin C deficiency can be remedied with supplements or by eating foods rich in vitamin C like citrus fruits or strawberries. Dermatitis herpetiformis symptoms such as dryness and redness around the eyes may be improved through treatment with steroids or steroidal ointments, while light therapy may help address photoaging issues.

The foods that cause acne

- Dairy products (milk, cheese, and ice cream)

- High glycemic foods such as potatoes, white rice, sweetened drinks and cereals

- Dairy produce from animals that have had hormone injections

- Artificial fats and vegetable oils high in trans-fats and polyunsaturated fatty acids

- Processed meat and cured meat

- Foods with a lot of sugar or artificial sugar substitutes like sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol, maltitol and iso malt. The best thing you can do for your skin is eat healthy whole foods that are low in sugar or sweeteners. Avoiding milk and dairy products, processed meats, and high glycemic foods will also help keep acne at bay. If acne persists despite these changes, then it's time to consult a dermatologist who may recommend topical treatments. In any case the bottom line is: if you want clear skin then don't let the wrong food choices wreck havoc on your diet!

The foods that help clear up acne

If you want clearer skin, you might need to change your diet. Avoiding certain foods and eating certain foods can help clear up acne and prevent it from coming back

(1). Certain fruits and vegetables like spinach, grapefruit, pineapple and other produce with a high water content help fight inflammation

(2). An unprocessed protein shake for breakfast can provide essential nutrients for stronger hair, nails and glowing skin

(3), not too mention assisting in weight loss as a result of its hunger reducing effects

(4). Protein is also required by our body to produce collagen which prevents wrinkles

(5) while calcium strengthens bones, leading to healthier teeth and jawline

(6) that we take for granted when we are younger but it is one of the hardest things for us adults to maintain. The same goes for Vitamin D, which helps synthesize collagen, assists in detoxification processes and plays a vital role in bone metabolism

(7). So if you have been struggling with having any of these problems or issues, don't wait any longer to try out some new eating habits! It will be worth it once you see how much better you feel and how much happier you look.

The mistakes you’re making

-Many people are used to eating heavily processed food, which means that they’re getting the bad kind of fat, no vegetables, and no fruit- which all wreak havoc on your skin.

-Processed food is also missing many of the vital vitamins and minerals that you need for clear skin- like vitamin A, vitamin C, and omega 3 fatty acids (which can be found in eggs).

-Too much alcohol or caffeine makes your blood thinner and can cause breakouts due to inflammation. Alcohol also dehydrates your skin, so be sure you drink water before bed as well as during the day. The only other time I recommend drinking coffee is after a workout when you have a cup of green tea instead. Green tea has been shown to improve antioxidant levels and prevent cell damage from free radicals- giving it a greater effect than most other teas on your skin. The healthy fats in avocados and salmon will help reduce dryness and irritation, while protein helps maintain collagen production which keeps your skin plump, young looking, and protected. Omega 3s reduce inflammation while Vitamins A and C heal blemishes; meaning two servings per week should be enough! And don't forget: We're told to eat five servings of fruits & veggies every day but we actually need seven! Processed foods have a lot more sodium than whole foods and too much sodium can lead to acne, plus whole foods have more fiber which will keep your skin clearer by removing excess waste. Another problem with processed foods is that they often contain artificial ingredients that clog pores and lead to premature aging. So the solution is pretty simple: start eating whole, unprocessed foods with lots of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins like fish and chicken, some grains or beans for fiber, dairy for calcium (think yogurt), olive oil for essential fatty acids--and try not to go overboard with unhealthy stuff like fries and soda!

The best diet for acne-prone skin

Acne-prone skin can be extremely frustrating and difficult to deal with, but there are some diet changes you can make that may help your skin stay more clear and healthy. These seven diet changes will help you reduce acne and increase healthy skin, giving your face the healthiest glow possible:

- Eliminate processed sugars by swapping them for natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup

- Use high quality, organic olive oil for cooking and food preparation instead of vegetable oils

- Cut down on meat consumption and eat more plants

- Load up on zinc by eating pumpkin seeds or oats (plus taking a zinc supplement if needed)

- Eat plenty of vegetables

- Avoid products with irritants that can cause redness, like alcohol or fragrances

- Drink lots of water to hydrate your body.
